It is a must for anyone interested in MySQL Performance. Most of it still holds true, although it is 3 years now. A few things have happened, though, for example a number of new tools exist to make it easier discovering bad queries in your database - e.g. Jet Profiler for MySQL or Enterprise Monitor.
