It aslo gives direction of how to go further if you want to master one of these tools.

Plus,it has a lot of practical examples which you can easily transform for your own work.

In this case, the TOC makes it clear: this book is a little about MySQL, a little about Perl, a little about R, and a little about web programming. The authors <might> have some decent case studies, but why should I gamble $50 on that?
