Advanced Topics In Programming Languages: Closures For Java
June 29th, 2010 by CGI & PHP.com
Google Tech Talks January 17, 2007 ABSTRACT We propose to add Closures to the Java Programming Language. Closures simplify the use of APIs that rely on anonymous class instances, such as the concurrency APIs and callbacks. More importantly, closures support control abstractions, which are APIs that act as programmer-defined control constructs. This talk describes the proposed language extension and its design rationale, and shows how it will affect existing and future APIs. Credits: Speaker:Neal Gafter

This is stupid, Why cant we have the same kind of closure format like in ECMA script? so like last expression 'means' return type, why? why cant it be the same as return something; instead? I mean so we really are changing and "adding" some learning curve because it means to be something and it is not very apparent!
I am all for closures … but they should give it a more thought in making it apparent to people.

This talk is absolutely superb. I wish I could speak on a subject with one tenth the intelligence and the ability to present cogent information that Neal Gafter has.
